Isn't it true they sometimes cancel ferries based on weather? Or crowd... I got stuck in that situation once, when I arrived on time for a ferry but they cancelled one trip. "Combined" it with an earlier ferry and cancelled the later one, so I had to spend the night in Mersing and wait for the next morning ferry.
