Anwar Ibrahim expressed that Malaysia has consistently supported Vietnam, from the early days of its reforms and joining ASEAN to its ongoing development. He congratulated T\u00f4 L\u00e2m on becoming the General Secretary of Vietnam’s Party.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim especially noted the country’s success in rebuilding its economy and society, recovering from the effects of war, and dealing with challenges caused by natural disasters. He praised Vietnam for its positive and wide-ranging changes, particularly in its economy and key industries. <\/p>\n

The Malaysian Prime Minister also expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary T\u00f4 L\u00e2m, the country would achieve its development goals. The Vietnamese leader praised Malaysia’s strong growth and congratulated the country on its major achievements under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim\u2019s government. <\/p>\n

The two leaders highlighted the cultural and historical similarities between their countries. They focus on their shared interests and commitment to promoting peace, security, and development. <\/p>\n

They also decided to elevate the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming to improve the well-being of their people and contribute to peace, sustainable growth, and prosperity in ASEAN and globally. <\/p>\n

The two leaders agreed on key areas to focus on to strengthen their cooperation within this new partnership. They agreed to build stronger political trust, expand and deepen cooperation in defence and security, and improve relations through different government channels, including the party, state, government, and parliament. <\/p>\n
