The F.O.S (Factory Outlet Store)<\/a> is a store chain you can find throughout all Malaysia. This shop sells mostly cheap labels. For example you can buy a nice shirt for only a few Euros. Of course you can walk into the Lacoste or Tommy Hilfiger shop in a mall like Suria KLCC and buy your clothes there; the F.O.S. however is much cheaper.<\/p>\n

At the F.O.S you can find many well-known labels like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie and Fitch and Paul Frank. The range mainly consists of summer clothing, but every now and then there\u2019s a new batch with \u2018warmer clothing\u2019 like sweaters and jackets. The range varies per branch. Sometimes the range in the branches in Kuala Lumpur is totally different from the stores at Penang. Another great plus of F.O.S is that they also have a children’s section, and even a few F.O.S KIDS branches; where you can only buy clothing for babies and children. Great place to buy gifts for friends and family members with kids. Saw brands like GAP Kids and many other international brands.<\/p>\n

What is the secret of this success? F.O.S buys clothing directly at the factory, without intervention of importers or other links. They usually purchase products in bulk, whereby they have huge stocks in the shop. That makes it possible to keep the costs low, which you see at the final price. The cheap clothing is 100% original and of good quality. Sometimes the labels of the clothes have been removed. Lots of tourists always worry that only imitation clothing is available in Asia. At the night market you will encounter many fake goods, but not in the F.O.S. F.O.S also sells larger (European) sizes, but you have to look well for it. <\/p>\n

Check the website of the customs, to find out if there are any amendments to the regulations. You better wear the clothing beforehand in Malaysia. Don\u2019t take ten of the same T-shirts with the label on with you on board of your plane. The customs consider this as trade. If you do take new clothing with labels still attached to it to your own country, then store the ticket. If you do get checked at the customs, then you can show your ticket. You will have to pay export tax; which usually is a small sum.<\/p>\n
