How to keep your condo mosquito free in Malaysia
To minimize risk of Dengue fever; there are some basic precautions you could take to keep those pesky mosquitoes out of your condo in Malaysia (especially KL). Below some pointers to protect yourself against mosquitoes (to minimize the risk of getting Dengue fever):
- Screen all the windows (the ones you want to open) with mosquito screen, balcony + yard too, if possible. There are many small companies that help with that, ask the landlord to do it for you.
- If you have terrace (balcony) plant lemon grass or special geranium, mosquitoes do not like the smell.
- Mosquitoes do not like windy places, install fans on terrace or balcony.
- Mosquitoes like to hide in the dark, especially in wardrobes or on the laundry.
- Check for breading places, it only takes a week and a bowl of water is host for larvae.
- ‘Antimos’ natural anti-Mosquito smell, put the cans under terrace table and at the yard.
- Install draft strips under the main door (and other doors).
- At night; never open your windows with the room lights on (unless you have insect netting installed).
- Mosquitoes do not like cold places. Usually the places that are air conditioned will not have any mosquitoes.
- Check with your condo management how often the area surrounding the condo is getting fogged. Fogging is clearly not healthy, but it does keep the bugs out for a while.

I just love your stories. This is the second one I will be reading. Are there more than two? If so I know I will enjoy all others.

We will probably lose a lot of money on electricity when we keep these mosquitoes out of the corridors and balconies.
